Change control is essential when moving critical software changes and updates into production. InProd keeps track of who changed what, where, when and why, and alerts you to unauthorized changes.
Manage and track updates
InProd manages the deployment of business objects from development to test to production. It identifies related objects so each application change is complete. When an object is promoted to production, its related objects and source go with it, and the source is compiled remotely on the target system. If needed, a change can be undone and the application rolled back to its previous state.
The Archive module keeps a history of changes to every object held in Dictionary-IV and Source-IV, including programs and Methods. You can track changes by user, system, date and the specific change made.
Scheduled and emergency changes
Your IT administrator can see the status of every InProd entry, from pending to completed, or reversed. Each entry:
- Lists the business objects to move from one environment to another
- Records who submitted, approved and performed it
- Is marked as scheduled (normal maintenance) or emergency
- Can carry a control number linking it to a support ticket or project task
Reports, views and alerts
The InProd database includes reports and views that show what is deployed on your production server. Search by object name, date and time, control ticket number, or user. Compare objects between development, test and production systems to find conflicts.
Automatic audits identify changes to the production server that did not come through InProd and send a daily email alert. The reporting is designed to satisfy SOX audit requirements.
