Source-IV is a full source code management system for Thoroughbred development. It handles both 3GL and 4GL source and helps developers keep control of many programs during development. It is part of the Thoroughbred Environment, along with Thoroughbred Basic and Dictionary-IV.

Features

  • Edit history. Source-IV keeps a history of each edit session. Use it to restore source to an earlier version or to track incremental changes to an application.
  • Security. Password protection and source code locking.
  • Built-in editor. Search and replace, cut and paste, copy, character and graphics modes, undo and syntax checking.
  • Dictionary-IV at hand. Open any Dictionary-IV object definition, such as Formats, Views, Screens, Menus and Help, without leaving the program you are working on.
  • Online help that is context-sensitive.
  • Utilities for program backup and restore.

Revisions and configuration

Source-IV brings configuration management and the upkeep of multiple revisions of a software product under control.

How it fits

Source-IV is included with OPENworkshop and IDOL-IV and works with Thoroughbred Basic and Script-IV code. For promoting changes from development through test to production, InProd keeps an archive of changes to objects held in Dictionary-IV and Source-IV.
