What we do
- Development tools. Thoroughbred Basic, Dictionary-IV, OPENworkshop, IDOL-IV and Script-IV for building structured business applications on normalized databases. See development tools.
- Web and data access. TS WebServer for web applications, and DataServers for Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB, ODBC and XML. See data access.
- Business applications. Solution-IV Accounting and its Reprographics and Retail and Team Sales editions, plus AS3 school administration.
- Services. Cloud hosting and managed services, backup and disaster recovery, consulting and training, customer support and maintenance programs.
Open by design
Thoroughbred software runs on UNIX, Linux and Windows, and your applications run on any of them without program changes. Workstations can use graphical, character or browser-based clients, including our TbredComm terminal emulator and Thoroughbred Web Terminal.
DataSafeGuard adds real-time journaling, replication and disaster recovery. Our DataServers and APIs connect Thoroughbred applications to ODBC-compliant tools and to Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB and XML. Developers who support software built on other platforms can use the same tools to connect it to Thoroughbred applications.

Our history
- 1982: Thoroughbred Software International begins providing business software for developers and end users. Many of today’s customers have used our products since then.
- 2008: Solution-IV Analytics, now e-Dash, gives Solution-IV users dashboards with drill-down to the detail.
- 2009: Version 8.7.0 adds T-RemoteControl, Report-IV to PDF, Excel output from Query-IV and Report-IV, and full 64-bit operating system support.
- 2010: A strategic alliance with AlaQuest International brings Thoroughbred marketing and support to AS3, AlaQuest’s postsecondary school software built with OPENworkshop and T-WEB.
- 2011: Version 8.7.1 adds IBM AIX 6 and 7.
- 2013: Version 8.8.0 is released.
- 2015: Version 8.8 environments and client products support Windows 10.
- 2016: Version 8.8.1 adds support for MySQL 5.7, MariaDB and Oracle 11, and IPv6 and new SSH encryption in TbredComm.
- 2018: Version 8.8.2 adds AES 256-bit encryption for data files at rest, helping customers meet GDPR requirements.
- 2020: Version 8.8.3 introduces T-Connect browser access with no client install, a new License Manager for virtual servers and containers, and support for Oracle 19 and SQL Server 2019. Solution-IV 8.84 follows.
- 2022: Solution-IV 8.85 adds imaging and Microsoft Power BI interfaces.
- 2024: Thoroughbred cloud services add DataSafeGuard protection, and version 8.9.0 ships in August.
- 2026: Version 8.9.1, the current release, adds TS DataServer for MariaDB and replaces T-Connect with Thoroughbred Web Terminal.
