Real-Time Database Solutions write your data to the Thoroughbred database and to Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL at the same time. They use the journaling capabilities originally developed for DataSafeGuard, Thoroughbred’s transaction backup and disaster recovery system.
How it works
Only updated data is processed, which keeps any effect on system performance to a minimum. A solution is made up of:
- The transaction journaling playback component of DataSafeGuard
- The interface for the target database: Oracle, MS SQL Server or MySQL
- The Thoroughbred DataServer for that database: TS DataServer for Oracle, TS DataServer for MS SQL Server or TS DataServer for MySQL
Existing applications keep writing to the Thoroughbred database as they do today. Playback carries each change to the other database without changes to the application code.
Who needs it
Real-Time Database Solutions are for companies that keep data in more than one database format and need every copy current to do real-time work. A typical case is a company with operations and manufacturing data in the Thoroughbred database, while accounting, dispatching, image storage or data access tools work from a third-party database that needs real-time updates.
How it fits
Real-Time Database Solutions share their technology with DataSafeGuard, which adds recovery, auditing and hot backup. For applications that should run directly on Oracle, SQL Server or MySQL instead, use the matching TS DataServer on its own.
