TS DataServer for MariaDB makes data in MariaDB tables available to Thoroughbred applications across platforms, for use in Dictionary-IV, Report-IV, Query-IV, Script-IV and Thoroughbred Basic. Starting with release 8.9.1, the TS DataServer for MySQL was split into two products, one for MySQL and one for MariaDB.

How it works

The DataServer has three parts:

  • A client-enabled TS Environment. The client side is part of every TS Environment installation. When it is set up for DataServer access, it sends requests for data held on the server to the server for processing.
  • A startup program. The tsmariadb program runs on the server and starts a server process for each client that connects.
  • A server process for each connection. It turns each request into SQL for MariaDB and passes the results back to the client.

The Thoroughbred client and MariaDB can run on the same system, connected through the loopback address, or on separate systems over the network.

Requirements

  • TS Environment 8.9.1 or later
  • MariaDB 10.0 or later, with the configuration changes in the reference manual
  • TCP/IP networking
  • Linux

How it fits

Thoroughbred offers matching DataServers for MySQL, Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
