Report-IV is part of Thoroughbred’s family of tools for getting data out of your applications. It is aimed at users with some programming experience who need detailed reports with complex formats.

Building reports

Report-IV builds efficient, complex reports from non-procedural definitions. You can:

  • Select any group of records, then sort and process them as needed
  • Calculate subtotals and totals
  • Format output with page breaks, headings, footings, special character styles, bold and underscoring
  • Combine data from multiple files, and accept user input at run time
  • Lay out the report on screen, with horizontal and vertical scrolling and screen painting

Reports can go to a printer, to the screen or to a disk file.

Dictionary-IV data

Report-IV works with Dictionary-IV, which defines the type and location of every data item. That lets a single report combine data from different files, file structures, file systems and operating systems, including applications spread across networked machines.

Faster with Query-IV

Queries built in Query-IV can be transferred to Report-IV format. Prototype quickly in Query-IV, then use Report-IV for the extra control.

Output options

  • Report-IV to PDF saves reports as PDF files, merges them with background forms, and emails them.
  • TS ReportServer displays, saves and prints reports on a Windows workstation.
  • Gateway for Windows passes report output to Windows applications for further processing.

Report-IV is included with OPENworkshop and IDOL-IV. Programs can run a report with CONNECT REPORT.
