TS ReportServer lets users display, print and save Thoroughbred reports on a Windows workstation, straight from a Thoroughbred application. Users can change the font, choose the printer, search for keywords, and copy part or all of a report to a file or another Windows application.
How it works
Define TS ReportServer as a printer in the Thoroughbred Environment printer setup and it is ready to use. It runs as a Windows server process that responds to messages from the host application, including Report-IV, Query-IV, Gateway for Windows and other Thoroughbred-based applications on UNIX or PC networks. Its operation is invisible to the application.
TS ReportServer is fully integrated with VIP, but it does not need the graphical interface enabled, so it also works when applications run in character mode.
Features
- Forward and backward scrolling, with header information highlighted
- Print to any printer available through Windows, or to a fax device
- Zoom in and out, and change font size and style
- Keyword find, and cut and paste of report content
- Save as .rps, or as .txt for export to other Windows applications
- Online storage of reports for later viewing and printing
- Start from the Windows Start button or a desktop icon
Remote printing
Users can send a report to TS ReportServer locally or at a remote site and get the same results. That avoids the problems sometimes seen with terminal emulator slave printing, and the report can be kept on the remote workstation for later reference.
How it fits
TS ReportServer is included with VIP for Dictionary-IV and is supported by TbredComm. In T-Connect Web Terminal, ReportServer output was converted to PDF automatically. From 8.9.1, T-Connect is replaced by Thoroughbred Web Terminal.
