*HPSD - List Programs On Terminal
Purpose
This utility lists the contents of a program on the display terminal, one screen at a time. Listing may begin at a specified statement or at the occurrence of a specified search string.
Procedure
To run this utility from Thoroughbred Basic Console Mode, type:
RUN “*HPSD” and press Enter.
To select this utility from the Thoroughbred Basic Utilities Menu, type one of the following:
H and press Enter.
*H and press Enter.
*HPSD and press Enter.
Menu option # and press Enter.
The following message is displayed:
PROGRAM:
Enter the name of the program to be listed. If the file cannot be opened, or if it is not a program, the user is asked to enter another program name. The system prompts:
ENTER LINE NUMBER, CR TO CONTINUE, CTL-I TO SEARCH, OR CTL-IV TO END

If you press F1 the system prompts:
SEARCH STRING [(CR=‘xxxx’)] (where xxxx is the last search string entered)
Type the string you want to search for. If there has been a previous search, the last search string is shown. Press F1 and Enter to continue to look for the next occurrence of the previous search string. After entering the string, the system responds with the following prompt:
LINE NUMBER TO BEGIN SEARCH (CR=BEGINNING)
Type the program line number where the utility should begin searching and press Enter. Press Enter to begin searching at the first statement in the program.
If the print to printer option (HC) is selected, the system prompts:
SELECT PRINTER: xx xx (where xx is a configured printer)
Make your selection from the list of available printers displayed in the prompt. Printers displayed in background mode are currently being used by another task and, therefore, are unavailable. If the printer requested cannot be opened, the user is prompted to make another selection. If only one printer is configured this question is not asked.
Error Messages
- ERROR xx HAS OCCURRED. (CR) TO RETRY
- An unexpected error has occurred, probably I/O related.
- STRING NOT FOUND. HIT (CR)
- The search string specified cannot be found in this program. Press Enter to enter another search string or F4 to return to the Thoroughbred Basic Utilities Menu.
- xxxxxxxx IS UNINITIALIZED OR BLANK
- The requested program is empty, enter another program name.
