Set System Date/Time
This utility can be used to set the date and/or time that is maintained for the system. This date and time information is referred to as system date and system time (Thoroughbred Basic Variables DAY and TIME).
On software operating under Microsoft Windows, setting these variables affects all Basic users.
On software running under the UNIX or Linux operating systems, these variables are only set for the terminal on which you are running. For example, terminal 1 can have a different system date and time than terminal 2 within the Basic environment.
In addition to setting the system date, there is an option to specify a terminal date. Terminal date is only applicable within Dictionary-IV (or software with terminal date implementation) and does not affect the system date. Terminal date is set equal to system date when you log off or log on to Dictionary-IV or when set equal using this utility.
Select Set System Date/Time from the Dictionary-IV Utilities Menu. The system prompts:
Enter System Date (MMDDYY):
Specifies the present date format established for Dictionary-IV. Type the correct date in the format established and press Enter. To insert the present system date value press Enter.
Enter time (HHMMSS):
Type the time in the format shown and press Enter. For example, 4:30 PM would be entered as 1630 (computers maintain a 24-hour based time). Minutes and seconds are optional and do not need to be entered. Pressing Enter will utilize the present system time value.
