Convert Report to Report-IV

There are three options in converting Report to Dictionary-IV (Report-IV): File Definition (to Format), Printer Table, and Report Definition.

Select Convert Report to Report-IV from the Dictionary-IV Supplemental Utilities menu.

These options allow you to convert existing Thoroughbred Report formats, printer tables, and definitions into Report-IV. You may convert them by library, range, or mask.

The procedure for these options is the same.

Enter the following information:

Library
Type the 2 alphanumeric character library name you wish to select.

Select everything
Select one of the following:

Y Converts all libraries.

N Does not convert all libraries.

From Name Type up to 6 alphanumeric characters for the first definition in the range to be converted. The system defaults to First.

To Name Type up to 6 alphanumeric characters for the last definition in the range to be converted. The system defaults to Last or the same name you type in the From Name field.

Using Name Mask Type the name mask you wish to use in selecting the definitions to convert. You may use a ? or @ for non-matching characters. The ? must be placed in the proper search position (AB?08?). The @ designates non-matching characters from the @ to the end of the file name (AB@).

The system defaults to None.

The system prompts:

Selections correct?

Select one of the following:

Y The information is correct, continue with conversion.

N The information is not correct, make corrections or exit.

To proceed with the conversion, type Y and press Enter. The system will convert the specified definitions. If a definition has already been converted, or if a definition already exists by that name, the system will ask if it should replace the existing definition.

XXXXXXXX already exists, replace?

Select one of the following:

Y The system overwrites the existing definition.

N The existing definition is not overwritten and the next definition is read. If an end of file is reached, the conversion is stopped and the Thoroughbred Supplemental Utilities Menu is displayed.

To interrupt the conversion process, press the Esc key. The system will ask if you want to terminate, enter the appropriate response.

New Definition Location

Thoroughbred Report Definitions are converted to Report-IV reports and can be accessed by entering the report name in Report-IV.

When accessing Report Definitions using the Report-IV Definition Maintenance, if the library that was converted does not exist in Dictionary-IV, the system will prompt:

Creating new Library, enter Title:

Enter the library description. You will now be able to access definition.
